TANGO IN BULGARIA

Gata am venit!

Cum sa povestesc despre weekendul trecut? Ne-am dus sa predam tango argentinian in Varna – Bulgaria.

Corina si-a inmuiat picioarele in apa, ne-am plimbat pe plaja. Frumos.

Si am inceput cam asa in engleza: toata lumea stie engleza? Nu? Nu e bai ca pot sa vorbesc in bulgara.

S-a lasat cu „wow” cu rasete cu aplauze. Milonga s-a tinut in Grand Mall intr-un club dragut.

Ei cauta bucuria in orice.

Tango in Bulgaria

Here we are, back in town!
How can I tell you about our last weekend? We went to teach Argentinean Tango in Varna-Bulgaria. We were so excited and anxious. After all, it was completely understandable. We had no idea about their level and how we would understand each other.

So… we left in the morning and reached Varna around noon. We ate, strolled to the beach, with Marinella Vladimirova (our host), took pictures here and there, had a lot of laughs, etc…
Corina soaked her feet in the sea and then we took a walk on the beach. Really nice. I couldn’t help but notice that even the seagulls had big boobies there. I guess they’ve never heard of small size for this stuff.

We reached the hotel, three stars, actually wonderful for the 22 Euros we paid. Once again, the Bulgarians showed us they really know business when it comes to this tourism stuff. Good for them!
Then, we went to our first class. To meet the people. We entered the room and they started flowing in, too. When Marinella said everybody was present, we said “let’s start”, right?

Before leaving Bucharest, I asked a friend of mine, Plamen, to translate a few English phrases in Bulgarian. For introduction.
Not even Corina had any idea about this move.
So, I started in English like this: Does everybody speak English? No? No problem, I can speak Bulgarian.

Apparently, I managed to speak without any accent in Bulgarian and it kind of shocked them a little bit. A lot of “wows” followed, laughter and applauses. Milonga was held at Grand Mall in a nice dancing club. Corina and I had a lot of fun as usual, and it was really great. They have a very inspired DJ, Ilia.

And now, we get to the important stuff.
The people.
We met people with different technique levels. Some of them were more emotional, some were bolder. Yet, they were so modest, honest and joyful, as I have rarely seen in my entire life. They were trying to find joy in everything. Their wish to learn was perhaps shadowed only by the fact that they wanted to have learned everything yesterday! They were so eager to learn, and so friendly and happy!

On the way back, I kept trying to find one single thing I didn’t enjoy during this weekend. But I couldn’t. The entire weekend was full of laughter, smiles, high spirits and amazing students.
In my opinion, our first tango class abroad was a real success.

    my fifty cents.

  2. da gata am revenit la fonturile normale. Multam!
